The Isla Bonita Rural Tourism Association participated in the Rural and Active Tourism Conference organized by the La Palma Island Council, a professional gathering held on June 17 at Casa Salazar, in Santa Cruz de La Palma, focused on analysis, reflection, and the exchange of experiences regarding the island’s sustainable tourism development.
The conference brought together experts, companies, professionals, and organizations linked to rural tourism, active tourism, and sustainability, establishing itself as a forum for dialogue on the main challenges and opportunities facing La Palma as a tourist destination. The program included informative talks and panel discussions aimed at sharing knowledge, strengthening collaboration among industry stakeholders, and moving toward a more responsible, balanced, and locally connected model of tourism.
The Isla Bonita Rural Tourism Association was represented by Ana Teresa González Expósito, who participated in the roundtable discussion on rural tourism, which began at 11:30 a.m. During the meeting, participants discussed the importance of rural tourism as a tool for diversifying the local economy, highlighting the landscape, culture, and traditions of La Palma, and promoting tourism that respects the identity of the municipalities and the communities that inhabit them.
The Isla Bonita Rural Tourism Association emphasized the need to continue promoting tourism that contributes to the island’s sustainable development, enhances the quality of rural lodging options, and fosters cooperation among local governments, businesses, and organizations in the region.
Through its participation in this conference, the Isla Bonita Rural Tourism Association reaffirms its commitment to promoting a tourism model based on sustainability, authenticity, and respect for the region, thereby contributing to the positioning of La Palma as a leading rural destination.
